When the staff of Fayetteville Animal Protection Society<\/strong><\/a> in North Carolina arrived at the shelter, they found a crate placed outside the front door. It was covered with a blue striped blanket. Their hearts sank that instant at what they saw.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur first thought was, \u2018Oh no, not another case of irresponsible pet ownership,\u2019\u201d Jackie Peery<\/strong><\/em>, executive director of the shelter<\/em>, said in an interview with The Dodo<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cWe were bracing for an accidental litter dumped at our doorstep due to not spaying\/neutering or someone moving and not willing to bring their pet.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Under the blanket were 5 black puppies<\/strong> inside a kennel. However, they noticed something attached to the crate.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThen we saw the note,\u201d<\/em> Jackie said. \u201cIt was a moment of pure awe.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

She realized that leaving the puppies at their doorstep was an act of love and not abandonment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u279c Here was what the attached note read:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cPlease Help! I found these puppies sadly after noticing a local stray dog that I would often feed when I could… dead… on the road… She has been hit by a car. I knew from feeding her she had puppies somewhere, and finally, after searching where I would usually see her, I found them. I\u2019m sorry for leaving them like this, but I myself am homeless and cannot afford to care for them. My heart is saddened for them and their mother. I just want them to be given the chance their mother, like myself, was never given. Please do not think poorly of me, but it felt wrong leaving them alone in the cold, waiting on a mother who would not be coming home. Sincerely – Nameless Man\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The (unknown) kind-hearted man saved the puppies. After reading the note, Jackie felt confused but relieved at the same time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis nameless man made it his mission to find these puppies to ensure their safety,\u201d<\/em> she said. \u201cHe remains a mystery \u2014 our very own nameless hero.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Thanks to the unknown hero, the puppies are healthy and progressing well.<\/p>\n
