After learning how homeless people were forced to sleep in the coldness of the night without proper heating, Australian charity, Beddown, decided to create safe heaven where they can sleep in comfort at night.
Finding a comfortable place for the homeless to get a good night’s sleep was challenging until they noticed that a lot of parking lots at shopping malls were empty at night.
It was then that the founder of Beddown, Norman McGillivray, realised that he could turn the empty parking lot into safe shelters for the homeless people to sleep.

The charity organization later asked one of the largest car park operators in Australia, Secure Parking, and luckily, they agreed to launch a two-week trial in Brisbane.

Not only that they provide beds complete with bedding and pillows, Beddown also offer multiple services to their guests, like doctors, nurses, dentists, and even hairdressers.
The guests are also provided with new clothing and a place to clean themselves.

“We will look to get as close as we can to a proper comfortable bed to provide the homeless with a great night’s sleep is our ultimate goal,” the creators of Beddown wrote on their Instagram account.

“Sleep deprivation is a massive issue for our homeless, so being in a place that offers shelter and is safe, secure and comfortable we believe will have a big impact on those who use Beddown.”
We at Good Times think this is a great initiative that we should take care of the homeless people in the world, and all people deserve shelters, clean water and food.
