Friendship on its is one of the more precious bonds. It’s selfless, full of warmth and joy and gives a sense of assurance to our lives. When the friendship is shared among animals, it makes it all the more special.
Lana was only 8 months old when Suelen Schaumloeffel and her fiancé adopted her from a shelter. Though Lana’s life started in the streets, she was still very cheerful and full of life when she got to her new home.
The pup loved her new parents and enjoyed playing in the doghouse they had built for her in the backyard. During the chilly weather in Brazil, Suelen bought a thicker blanket to keep Lana warm during her naps outdoor.

Snuggled in the comfort of her new blanket, Lana fell asleep and so did her parents. However, something strange happened the following morning. Suelen’s fiance was leaving the house for work when he saw the puppy sleeping outside wrapped in the blanket.
What took him by surprise is that Lana wasn’t alone. She was sharing her blanket with another dog who frequents the neighborhood. It appeared that Lana had befriended him, and was concerned that he would be cold.

When Suelen came to learn about it, she recalled catching glimpses of the dog a few times before. She even tried to approach him to check if he had an ID tag on him, but he got scared and ran away.
“I thought, ‘How beautiful what she did for her friend. My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity!” she shared with The Dodo.
Though Lana was now living in the comfort of a loving home, provided with regular meals and never-ending cuddles, she never forgot what it’s like living in the streets.

As for the other dog, Suelen couldn’t tell if he was lost because he still wouldn’t let them get hear him. Nevertheless, they always leave some food and water for him, which he wholeheartedly accepts.
Suelen says that Lana never fails to get excited every time she sees her friend. “She is the nicest little dog I’ve ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone’s life. She reminded me of this,” she beams.
She shared photos of the dogs on Facebook, and received wholesome responses from people all over the internet. She wrote her caption as below:
“Seeing the friend without a home and cold, Lana did not hesitate to share the blanket. She took it to the fence and offered a piece to her friend. Each on one side of the fence, but both warm. I swear that when I saw this record I was moved. I was so overwhelmed by her generosity!”
Lana reminds us all that no matter how far we get in life, it’s important to be kind and stay grounded. After all, it doesn’t hurt to share the joy of love and compassion with a few people.
