If you are a woman and have a close-knit group of female friends who constantly offer you support and push you to achieve your goals, this will be good news for you!
It is not a surprise for those who have support from their family and friends to have higher motivation and chances to pursue their dreams and goals in life.
Nevertheless, a study shows that women will enjoy better perks if they are surrounded by close female friends who inspire and push them to be the better version in their lives as opposed to men.
According to Harvard Business Review, women who have an inner circle of close female friends have better chances to succeed in their career, have higher pay and position and better authority compared to men in the same social situation.
For decades women have been made to feel that they need to compete with each other to land leadership roles and higher position.
However, the study reveals that women who have close female friends actually have a better way to overcome cultural and systemic bias at work by sharing experiences with women who have been in a particular situation.
The study also reveals that men do not have the same benefits in career growth when it comes to having well-connected male friends as women do.
“There’s a new girls’ club that we didn’t have before because the workplace was largely male-dominated,” Jocelyn Greenky, an office culture and politics expert and CEO of Sider Road spoke to Forbes.
“Now that so many more women are entering the workplace, we’re finding our voice. We’re also building circles of trust with one another because we may be experiencing similar hurdles, and have each other’s backs.”
Women are already powerful and great but women who support each other are even more powerful! So, it is time to look for each other and give support to your female friends.
