Children are always asked about their ambitions. The typical question would be: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. Whatever the answer, whether a teacher, a doctor, or a chef, each child’s dream is unique in their own way. The same goes for four-year-old Sidney Fahrenbruch from Longmont, Colorado, USA. She hopes to become a police officer.
One sunny day, she was out with her mom. Suddenly, she noticed a policeman standing under the hot sun, directing the on-going traffic. Sidney felt bad for the policeman and decided to gave him a bottle of water.
Sidney aspires to become a police officer one day
Last year, her story caught the attention of the media when she called the police station to help her get rid of ‘monsters’ in her house. Officer David Bonday responded and went to her house to check it out. She became friends with the local police department since then.
Sidney again caught attention when she decided to do something nice to Officer Kyle Zulauf. She heard that Officer Kyle was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, so she decided to help out.
She collected her piggy bank which worth US$9 and brought it to the police station to donate to the officer.
The police department appreciated her act of kindness and posted a public message on Facebook:
“I brought it to help people with cancer,” she said. “I like (police officers). They help people, and they take bad people to jail.”
President of the Longmont Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 6, Detective Stephen Schulz, said a fundraiser has been planned to collect money for Kyle and his family.
Officer Kyle Zulauf was touched by Sidney’s kind gesture
Sydney’s mom said that she has been saving up to buy a toy but she decided to use the money to help Officer Kyle Zulauf.
“I understand cancer is a bad thing and being nice is a good thing and I want to do my part to help out”
Longmont’s Department of public safety thanked Sidney for her kind efforts. They were truly touched to see the selfless act of a four-year-old. Officer Bonday described her actions as “super special”.
The innocent nature of children truly is heart-warming for us to see.
