When he found the vulnerable little creature thrown into the trash like it was nothing, his heart melted in pity. As he lifted the puppy in his arms, he knew he was facing the most heartbreaking and pitiful case in all his rescue years.
This is the most cruel story of abandonment imaginable, in contrast to the heroic efforts of a humble rescuer and selfless veterinarian, who would never give up to save an innocent life.
He immediately realized the puppy’s state when he held it. So he immediately took him to the vet with a short thread of hope, expecting the worst.
He had contracted a very serious, contagious, and dangerous infection because he had spent so many days amid filth.
Both the man and the vet were heartbroken with every pain the dog felt, and every pained sound it made only revealed how much the puppy was suffering.
The vet confessed to the man that he is seriously concerned because he was just a puppy and he doubted that he would make it since he is very young. With faith on their side and not lost, they immediately began intensive treatment.
But the pain increased more and more, and the puppy’s suffering was more than evident.
“I cried a lot as I saw the puppy crying like this and kept praying for him to recover,” the rescuer said.
Antibiotics and other medications were given through an IV line. They both gave extreme care to the poor puppy.
They placed a heat lamp facing the puppy to stabilize his body temperature. Efforts were worthwhile, and the puppy began to give small signs of improvement.
After a few hours, the worst seemed to be over, and they had saved the puppy’s life. The rescuer had to take him home, give it great patience and love, and offer him all the necessary care. However, the man was very afraid that he might not be doing anything right for he had a great responsibility on his hands.
The puppy almost had a severe heart failure, but everything went uphill. There is nothing that cannot be achieved with love. So suddenly it got better, I couldn’t believe that just a few days earlier the puppy was in pain.
What heartless person could have left this adorable little creature in the trash as if he was a useless thing? No wonder, more humans love animals more than other heartless humans.
The puppy surprised them with its strength and its will to survive. Though he was still recovering, and his condition is still very delicate, they would never give up to save him to the end.
Even though the puppy gradually improved, the rescuer could not stop wondering about the other puppies who are in the same situation as to where he found the puppy, fighting for its life in unthinkable places, without anyone knowing where to find them.
The rescuer suddenly thought about the cruel owner who threw the puppy in the trash.
Finally, the puppy made it and completely recovered. But now came the bittersweet part of them all: the farewell. He could not keep the puppy because he did not have enough room where he lived, and so he can rescue other puppies. However, he dedicated himself to finding the puppy the best home he could find.
This story reminds us of the millions of animals that are abandoned and mistreated every day.
