29-year-old Grant Tribbett started dating his girlfriend Cassandra Reschar, 26, last year. After only a short 7 months of dating he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life together with this woman.
He also knew that marrying Reschar would mean he would instantaneously become a father as well since Reschar had a 5-year-old daughter named Adrianna. It is a package that he looked forward to.
“Honestly it was one of the many qualities she has that captured my heart,” said Tribbett in an interview with TODAY as he referred to the fact Cassandra was a single mother.
He decided to propose in the most appropriate way possible. He asked the girls to dress up because he wanted to take them out for breakfast.
Reschar told Inside Edition, “I was kind of taken aback that he took us to Cracker Barrel. He was just acting so strange. I knew something was up. But I was hoping that he wouldn’t do anything inside (the restaurant). It was too crowded, there were too many people.”
He proposed on the wooden bridge at Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve.
After their meal, the three of them walked around Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve for about a mile until they came to a wooden bridge. Unknown to Reschar and Adrianna, there was a photographer hiding not too far away from them. Tribbett had asked for the help of their professional photographer friend Mandi Gilliland to capture what was about to ensue.
“Adrianna can I be your daddy, to promise to love and protect you for the rest of your life?“
He got down on one knee and Gilliland came out of hiding to capture the moment. He proposed to Reschar and she said yes! He then got down on his knee again and pulled out a jewelry box with a heart-shaped necklace in it and asked the 5-year-old, “Adrianna can I be your daddy, to promise to love and protect you for the rest of your life?“
She was excited to finally have a father as Reschar said, “She was yelling, ‘I finally get a daddy, mommy! I finally get a daddy!’’’
‘I finally get a daddy, mommy! I finally get a daddy!’ exclaimed an excited Adrianna.
She recalled that after he ‘proposed’ to her daughter, she along with the photographer couldn’t help but to shed tears at the sight. She said,”As soon as he spoke those sweet words, I once again broke down in tears. Not the cute kind of tears either, the bawling type tears. My little heart could not take so much love!”
“The dream of every mother is for her daughter to grow up happy. She has always wanted a daddy,” said Reschar.
The couple got married in December and Adrianna was the flower girl. She is hoping to get a sibling soon and cannot wait to be a big sister.
