When a robber tried to steal a phone from a young woman in Rio de Janeiro, he wasn’t expecting to receive a beating from MMA fighter Polyana Viana—who is also known as “The Iron Lady”.

27-year-old Polyana taught the mugger a lesson when she brought him down with two punches and a kick, before calling the police.

The Brazilian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was just waiting by herself for an Uber when the incident happened.

The man apparently threatened her with a gun, so she quickly decided that he wouldn’t “have time to draw it”, and took him down.

“He was really close to me. So I thought: ‘If it’s a gun, he won’t have time to draw it’. So I stood up. I threw two punches and a kick.

“He fell, then I caught him in a rear-naked choke. Then I sat him down in the same place we were before and said: ‘Now we’ll wait for the police’.”

After the whole ordeal, it turned out the robber’s gun was actually made out of cardboard!

Polyana then posted snaps of the would-be robber online, and he can be seen with blood and bruises covering his face and body.

“Since he took the punches very quickly, I think he was scared,” she told the sports website MMA Junkie.

After speaking with police and the mugger was treated for his injuries, she headed home for dinner.

We don’t think anyone will be messing with Polyana in the near future!
