It seems as though every new parent is just perpetually tired. Exhaustion and parenthood must go hand in hand because the fact is that you probably won’t be getting a good night’s sleep when you have little ones in your home.
Melanie Darnell, who is a mother of three kids, decided to record what a typical night of ‘sleep’ looks like for her and probably for every parent with young children. She says, “Parenting doesn’t end when the sun goes down. I want to parent at night the same way I parent during the day.”
Darnell has amassed quite a large number of followers following her blog and the reason she is so popular is because she posts the cold, hard truths about parenting. She admits that it is no walk-in-the-park and that it’s completely normal to admit to having a hard time dealing with it every now and then.

She shares her experiences on Instagram and many parents can relate to it
So far she has over 87 thousands followers and the numbers just keep increasing
Darnell admits that she feels tired most of the days and is lucky to get even a couple of hours of sleep at night
She wanted to record what a typical night looked like in her household, so she placed a camera on her ceiling above her bed
“In those quiet, dark hours, the lack of distraction can be actually quite calming and refreshing,” she says
Her 10-month-old baby barely sleeps at all and in the middle of the night her 2-year-old child starts crying
It is no wonder Darnell feels exhausted when the sun rises!
She asserts that all parents will go through this rough patch but it will get better in no time
After sharing the time lapse video, Darnell has received an overwhelming positive response
People from all around the world can relate to it and thanked her for sharing the footage
During these moments let’s think of all the other parents that have to get up to tend to their babies at the middle-of-the night and take comfort in the thought of each of us cradling our babies in the dark of our homes and experience the life of being a mother.
