Rebecca and Frankie Hernandez were high school sweethearts and they got married in 2012 after Rebecca graduated from college. They soon adopted a puppy named Apollo.
However, the pair decided to go their separate ways and split up in 2015. Rebecca moved to her hometown in Mercedes with their pet Apollo while Frankie moved to Houston.
Even though they live far away from each other, Frankie still misses Apollo and he never fails to send his dog a birthday card every year on April 1
Rebecca recently shared Frankie’s latest birthday card which he wrote a long and sweet message to Apollo
The card was also signed ‘Love, Dad’ and accompanied by a Petco gift card
In his birthday wish, Frankie wrote: “I hope you got spoiled on your special day. Knowing you, I’m sure you haven’t slowed down and are just as much of a handful now as when we first got you.
“Watching you grow up from a puppy that fit in the palm of my hand to the overgrown lap dog that you are now was nothing short of an adventure, and I loved every minute of it.”
He ended the card with “Continue to be there for her like you were for me.”
Rebecca admitted that she was touched by Frankie’s thoughtfulness when she read the card. Apparently, she was not the only one who was moved to tears by Frankie’s birthday wish.
When Rebecca posted photos of the birthday card on her Twitter account, many people immediately melted upon seeing the lovely pictures. In her caption, she wrote: “My ex and I split up two years ago and he still sends our dog, Apollo, a birthday card and a gift card to Petco on his birthday. #NoBadBood”
Following the tweet which has gone viral with over 50,000 likes, thousands of people on Twitter expressed their hopes that the pair would get back together again since they are not officially divorced yet
“I think people could relate because they saw a love story in it all. They were being hopeless romantics. ‘Take him back,’ hundreds of people told me. ‘Take this as a sign.’ Frankie and I really do care about each other, but we had our issues and things got rocky. It just didn’t work out,” Rebecca said.
“Because we’d known each other so long and married so young, that probably contributed to us splitting up,” Rebecca said. “Both of us were pretty hardheaded.”
However, she then took a pause and added: “I also still have that connection with Frankie. I miss him, too. So who knows what will happen. Since I put out that Tweet, Frankie and I have talked more than we have at any point in two years. Maybe we could reconnect.
“And if we do, we’ll owe it to Apollo.”
