There’s a popular saying that a dog is a man’s best friend. And a dog could also be a lie saver to its human companion.

However, sometimes their act is unpredictable and they may go violent on humans and that was what Catherine Svillicic thought when she wanted to adopt a dog from an animal shelter.

Last October, Catherine was resting at her backyard. The weather was sunny and her 17-month-old toddler, Charlotte, was playing in the garden with their Doberman pet dog, Khan.

Khan had just joined their family

Previously, he lived in an animal shelter and was always seen having trouble eating and looked anxious most of the time when he first got rescued by the animal shelter.

Luckily, he was gentle enough to be adopted as pet so Catherine decided to adopt him. However, Catherine’s fear came true on one fateful day when Khan suddenly became aggressive to Charlotte and tried to toss her away.

When Khan’s failed his attempt to do so, he hauled Charlotte’s nappy up and threw her more than a metre away.

Catherine was really shocked to see Khan’s aggressive act and she quickly rescued her daughter. As she approached her daughter, she saw a snake moving towards her basement.

At the same time, Khan made an attempt to attack the venomous snake when he suddenly screamed out.

The snake had bitten him on his leg

“I realised he had been trying to get in between her and the snake before he threw her.”
“He saved her life by risking his own,” said Charlotte’s mother, Catherine.

Nevertheless, no one was harmed but Khan had to get an anti-venom shot from a vet. He is now recovering from the snake bite.

Even though he had just became a new member of the family, Khan was ready to risk his life for them. “From now on, he’s Khan the Wonder Dog.” praised Catherine.
