A pregnant mother delivered her baby boy in her car and shockingly the baby was still in his amniotic sac. Her boy, Ean Jamal was born prematurely at 29 weeks. A shocking photo shows the mother was holding her baby boy with her bare hands in the car.
The amniotic sac is filled with fluid that functions to protect the baby from any injury. It also provides them with fluids in order for them to breathe and swallow. When a woman’s water breaks, the fluid drains out through the mother’s vagina.
Raelin Scurry, from Pennsylvania, United States of America never expected to give birth to a premature baby.
When she felt the contraction, she thought it was because of Braxton Hicks contractions – cramps that occur during pregnancy.
She was not too concerned about the pain as the contractions normally happen midway through pregnancy. However, after 45 minutes of continuing contractions that never seemed to stop, she decided to go to the hospital.
“The contractions continued to get closer together and more intense and before I knew it I knew it was time to push,” Scurry told her story on Instagram.
“I called 911 because I was so scared. They couldn’t understand me between the screams with contractions. So I handed the phone to my fiancé.
“I pulled my pants off and reached down, sure enough his head was right there. I pushed one time and my miracle baby was here. When I looked down I realised he was still completely wrapped in the amniotic sac.”
The adorable baby boy weighed just 3lb 10z. Such births are said to be very rare, that happens in just one in 80,000 births.
They are more common in c-sections than vaginal births. Sometimes babies are born with pouches that just cover their heads and this is called birth caul.
